About

The Louisiana Public Health Institute (LPHI), the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) New Orleans, and Metropolitan Human Services District (MHSD) make up the MHFA Collective of New Orleans.

They are recognized training partners of MHFA Training and offer this training to partners, communities, and individuals to advance behavioral health, community resilience, and disaster preparedness in the Greater New Orleans area. The collective aims to do mental health differently by coordinating equitable community outreach, collaborating across sectors, and improving general knowledge regarding mental health risk factors and resources in Louisiana.

Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based course sponsored by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis.

These trainings are made possible as part of the ReCAST program and in partnership with United Way.
